Small Class Sizes

Smaller classes mean closer attention—and a high-quality education. Upper-level courses seat only 15 to 20 students; even our average class size is 20. And faculty teach all lab courses. This close, consistent interaction is one of the reasons we rank in the top 4% nationally in graduating chemistry majors.

Extensive Research Opportunity

Explore current questions in chemistry, advancing knowledge while building your proficiency. Students tackle research in all areas of chemistry, working with modern instrumentation in the labs of faculty mentors. From proposing a project to reporting their findings, students complete the entire research process and graduate from TCNJ as experienced scientists.

Engaged Faculty Mentors

Our teacher-scholars are active scientists and attentive mentors. They all lead strong research groups, welcoming undergraduates as collaborators and co-authors. Much of this work is pursued with colleagues from other departments, institutions, and industry. These partnerships give student researchers networking connections and an inside track on exciting research and career advances.
