Dr.Hunt Receives Award for Summer Undergraduate Research

Bristol-Myers Squibb Chemistry Organization has selected Dr. David Hunt of the Chemistry Department as the recipient of a grant in the amount of $5000 to support a summer research project. Dr. Hunt has selected Joanne Bertonazzi, a rising junior chemistry major, to participate in the project. Dr. Hunt’s proposal was evaluated by a committee of scientists on the Bristol-Myers Squibb staff, and grants were awarded on a competitive basis. Projects involving synthesis or synthetic methods development work were sought. Dr. Hunt’s project is entitled  “Preparation of Novel Ring Systems Utilizing Parham Cycliacylation/ Cyclialkylation Chemistry “. A symposium will be held at BMS on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 for the undergraduate researchers and their advisors to allow a forum for the students to present their research in either poster or oral format to the BMS chemistry community.
