Dr. Lauren Rossiter
Teacher-Scholar Fellow
Education:
B.S., Messiah College
Ph.D., Temple University
Research Interests
Dr. Rossiter is broadly interested in organic synthesis and natural product chemistry. However, her primary research interests are photochemistry and the complex scaffolds that can result from these photochemical reactions. This work begins with the chemical tethering of 2-pyridones to substituted benzenes. These simple conjugated molecules are then exposed to UV light, yielding several complex molecular scaffolds. The goal of this research is to use spectroscopic methods to characterize the products formed from the photochemical reaction. This work aims to also identify patterns arising from the choice of starting materials and reaction conditions.
Teaching Interests
Dr. Rossiter’s teaching interests include general chemistry, organic chemistry, and natural product chemistry.
