Overview of Research

In addition to teaching, faculty members are actively involved in scholarly research and participate in collaborations with colleagues from other departments, institutions, and industry. The tenure-track faculty in the department have broad training in all core areas of chemistry, and are therefore able to provide a range of research opportunities for students during the semester through CHE 493 courses and during the summer through programs such as MUSE. Research in the Chemistry Department at TCNJ is supported by modern state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation. Faculty and students also present their work in a variety of forums ranging from research meetings to dissemination through publications in leading scientific journals.

“Research can be the most rewarding aspect of an undergraduate chemistry degree. Students grow both professionally and personally in ways that are not possible through traditional classroom and laboratory classes.” – American Chemical Society, Committee on Professional Training
